Determination of priorities of basic criteria in terms of user perception in furniture design

The subject of this thesis is the determination of priorities of basic criteria in terms of user perception in furniture design. First of all, the importance of the user and the user perception in furniture design is emphasized. The meaning of furniture as a product and the object is examined in relation with user and the product .Then; the fieldworks in the basic criteria that affect user perception in furniture design were collected from different sources. To set the priorities and the relationships of the basic criteria in terms of user perception in furniture design, the criteria of national and international competitions was analyzed under the five main criteria of functional, technical, economic, aesthetic and conceptual criteria and in accordance with these criteria a questionnaire has been prepared. The questionnaire questioned the priorities of the users' perception. Important criteria in terms of user perception are compared with criteria of design competitions that constitute an important source for the design evaluation and all the data obtained through the research is interpreted in terms of differences and similarities of importance of the effects in the user's perception .
