A modern leadership approach visionary leadership: A research in five starred hotels of Antalya

The enterprises of this age will be successful with the leaders who have the modern leadership qualities. Leaders of today are the visionary leaders who can predict the future, and form a picture of it with a vision in the minds of his/ her employees and inspire them on their way to this vision. The tourism sector is also affected by the reserved management/ leadership approaches in this way. As a modern leadership approach visionary leadership attitudes and practices have become important within the framework of management of today and have become the requirement of professional management. When the relevant literature is examined it is seen that there are limited studies in the field of visionary leadership although there are a lot of ones in the field of leadership. While the relevant subject is examined by taking the hotel general managers? opinions on the subject into consideration, in this research the opinions and perceptions of the assistant general managers, secretaries of the general managers, departmant managers and chefs, who are in the close positions to the general managers, are tried to be evaluated; when evaluated in this respect, it has the quality of the unique research in its field. With this research it is determined that the managers perceive the hotel general managers as visionary leaders and general managers have the visionary leader qualities and demonstrate the visionary leaders attitudes.
