Abstract (EN)

In this master's thesis study; After extracting the oil from the lavender flowers, a genus of lavandula angustifolia whose aromatic oil has commercial value, activated carbon was obtained by chemical activation of the remaining pulp with the chemical ZnCl2. A number of experimental studies were carried out to remove the pollution caused by the reactive red 198 anionic dye, which is constantly used in textiles, from the wastewater with the obtained activated carbon. To know the characterization of activated carbon, the characteristic features on the surface of activated carbon were determined using TGA-DTA, SEM-EDX image, BET areas, pore volume and diameter with N2 adsorption-desorption process, which is a gas process, and FT-IR. As a result of the reflux process of the mixture with a ratio of 5/12.5 g (lavender/ZnCl2) and then the muffle furnace at 700 0C, the highest surface area value of 481.77 m2/g was obtained. The main characters of adsorption processes; pH, concentration, temperature parameters were examined for the selected activated carbon with the highest surface area. The results obtained as a result of the examinations were evaluated and adsorption isotherms were explained with Langmiur, Freundlich, Temkin isotherms. The kinetics of adsorption was explained with pseudo-first and pseudo-second order kinetic models.
