Abstract (EN)
The hydrological properties of watersheds are important in assessing fresh water quantity and quality. These evaluations allow the assessment of erosion phenomenon, the conditions of torrent and flood formation, and the negative effects of these occurrences on water quality and quantity. On the other hand, analyzing the morphometric properties of watersheds in terms of watershed hydrology ensures these assessments more reliable. Hydrological characteristics of watersheds represent are both their properties of topographical and drainage network. Therefore, these two properties have an very important in watersheds management plans to ensure the sustainability of water resources. In this study, numerical and visual values of the morphometric parameters of Lake Eğirdir watershed and its sub-watersheds were obtained using the Geographic Information System method and numerical elevation model data with the help of ArcGIS 10.2 software. For this purpose, 21 parameters which are subject to morphometric analysis method were used. These parameters were area of watershed, perimeter of watershed, total number of streams and numbers, drainage density, stream frequency, bifurcation ratio, form factor, shape factor, circularity ratio, elongation ratio, compactness coefficient, drainage texture, texture ratio, gravelius index, watershed relief, relief ratio is the roughness value, hipsometric curve, hipsometric integral and the infiltration rate and the others topographic features known as slope, elevation and altitude. In the research area, generally Lake Eğirdir watershed and its sub-watersheds are included in the large watershed class. Therefore, the time to collect water falling into the watershed will be long and the surface flow rate to occur in the research area will be relatively low. Due to the high risk of erosion in these areas, it can be said that the quality and quantity of water will be adversely affected. However, it had been determined that the H1 and H5 sub-watersheds on the lower parts of the main watershed will affect the watershed hydrology morphometrically in terms of both topographic and drainage network propertiess. Therefore, erosion risk should be taken into consideration in Lake Egirdir watershed management plans and long-term scientific studies should be included in order to quantify the erosion potential of the watershed and the amount of soil loss. Thence, Lake Eğirdir watershed was an area where urbanization was rapidly increasing and the settlement was not planned. Therefore, considering increase in the pressure on water production as a result of population growth, it should be known that the negative effects of erosion risk will create a risk for climate change.
