Abstract (EN)

As a result of the devastating earthquakes in the world and in our country, being thousands of casualties and property damage increased the importance of the protection of buildings against natural disasters. The main purpose of the protection of buildings against external influences such as earthquakes is to provide the safety of life and to remain on standing for the duration of the service . The problem of vibration mitigation of structural system using semi active devices has been extensively targeted by control researchers from both theoretical and experimental points of view since semi active systems have reliability of passive systems and have requirement of lower energy source than active systems. In this study, the vibration mitigation of the structures under the earthquake excitation using magneto-rheological (MR) damper will be researched. In this purpose, two MR dampers are installed to the structure using different location combination and the system performance is investigated. In addition, an Hinfinity robust controller is designed for the vibration mitigation problem of a structural system using a magneto-rheological (MR) damper. The performance of the proposed methods is tested experimentally on a six degree of freedom (DOF) structure by shaking table tests.
