Miracle in Muhammad Tahir Ibn Ashur's work named Tafsîru et-Tahrîr ve't-Tenvîr

Tāhir b. Āshūr, who lived in the twentieth century, was one of the most prominent scholars of the period. His tafsīr al-Tahrīr wa't-Tanwīr had a great impact. Today, this work is one of the sources of tafsir. The miracle has been subjected to different interpretations since the early periods. In the contemporary period, debates have emerged on whether the miracle is real or not. In our study, we have tried to read the conception of miracle in the world of Tāhir b. Ashūr's mind. We have tried to examine the words Ibn Ashūr used as synonyms and close synonyms of miracle, how he classified miracles, and how he explained miracles in his thirty-volume work. We used textual analysis as a basic method in our study. We found that the author emphasised that the Qur'an is the greatest miracle and that he considered the fact that the Prophet Muhammad was an ummah and brought the Qur'an, which confirmed his prophethood, as a miracle. We have observed that the commentator explains the words verse, beyyine, right, furqan and sultan with miracle in his work. We have determined that the commentator uses the words prophecy, torment, be's, irhās, miracle and istidrāj as a close meaning with miracle in his commentary. We have seen that he classifies miracles as scientific, unseen and hidden. We have observed that he emphasised on qiraat, vocabulary, grammar while dealing with miracles; and that he interpreted these verses with religious and positive sciences such as kalam, fiqh, siyar. We have found that the author frequently refers to the literature of the Ahl al-Bayt. However, we have seen that he accepts the miracles, but in a few verses he makes scientific interpretations and theorises some of the miracles. Keywords: Holy Qur'an, Miracle, Tāhir b.
