Continuing professional education for accountants and evaluation of Turkey`s application

Because of the social, economical, legal and technological developments in theenvironment, the accounting profession is affected by the globalization and information.The accounting produces economical information for a country which shows acountry?s development level. Countries, businesses, and people use this kind ofinformation for their economical decisions. Therefore, confidence and accuracy of theaccounting information are important and these depend on the accounting system. Thepeople called accountants who work for the accounting system are the most importantfactors as many other systems. For catching the technological, economical, and socialchanges, only the graduation from a school is not enough therefore, the accountantshould improve himself very often during his professional life.The educational approach which is called continuing education or lifelongeducation (learning) is necessary for the accountants. The accountants may not beenough and need to spend too much time for this changes and developments. Instead ofthe accountants, the professional organizations can follow this kind of developments.The professional organizations organize some education programs which canupdate and improve the information and skills of the members. They should force toattend them to these programs. The professional organizations should look for theproficiency examination, the university graduation and experience from theircandidates. In addition, the members need to renewal (relicense) their license in aspecific period to continue for their professions. The professional organizations shouldrequest the attendance of an educational program from their members. They also shouldmake them to attend other educational program which is organized by universities andtraining institutes. By given education on the internet, the members can update theirprofessional information and skills.
