Abstract (EN)

Sentences formed by the combination of two or more predicates are called compound sentences. These sentences are used by being connected in various ways in terms of structure and meaning. Compound sentences are divided into different types, including sequential compound, coordinated compound, conditional compound, embedded compound, parenthetical compound, and complex compound sentences. Each subtype is defined based on the type of relationship between the predicates and the kind of connector used. Compound sentence structures not only reflect the structural features of the language, but also affect the rhythm of the narrative, the hierarchy within the sentence, and the layers of meaning. To make this effect more concrete, grammatical analyses were conducted based on the text, focusing on the meaning and structure of sentences within the stories. In Murathan Mungan's work Cenk Hikâyeleri, the use of compound sentences shows a remarkable intensity and variety. The diversity and distribution of these sentence structures are considered grammatical elements that enhance the structural depth of the text and support the formal design of the narrative. Therefore, in this study, through an analysis of these types of sentences in terms of meaning and structure, the role that compound sentences play in Mungan's way of constructing narrative has been revealed.
