Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to examine the intellectual portrait of Turkish thinker and educator Mustafa Rahmi Balaban. It is to reveal his understanding of civilisation and upbringing that constitutes his world of thought. In the study, Mustafa Rahmi's life, education, works and thought structure are discussed and his intellectual contributions to Turkish intellectual life are investigated. In the first part of the study, Mustafa Rahmi's life, education, works and thought structure are examined in detail and his intellectual contribution to Turkish intellectual life is given. His educational life, professional career and academic studies were analysed comprehensively and his intellectual portrait was drawn. In this context, the place and importance of Mustafa Rahmi's world of thought and his works for the development of Turkish intellectual life has been revealed. The second part addresses Mustafa Rahmi's understanding of civilization. His view of civilization includes the fundamental values that build it, the place of the Turkish nation in the history of civilization, and his observations on modernization efforts. Mustafa Rahmi emphasized the importance of sustaining existence in contemporary civilization by drawing strength from the historical and cultural heritage of the Turkish nation. The final part focuses on Mustafa Rahmi's understanding of education. His philosophy of education, methods, and views on character education are detailed, revealing his thoughts on the importance of individual and societal education. The effects of Mustafa Rahmi's educational perspective on the modern education system and his innovative approaches in this field are discussed. This section also examines his views on the importance of moral values in education and the role of individuals within society. Mustafa Rahmi's intellectual portrait illuminates the civilization journey of the Turkish nation while highlighting the scientific, national, and spiritual foundations of the Republican era. It is understood that his philosophical approach can provide a significant perspective on solving the current civilization crisis and building the education system. The study employs a qualitative research method, collecting data through literature review and systematically analyzing it.
