Abstract (EN)

In İslâmic history XII. century was a really critical period. Because Mongols from east and the Crusaders from west attracted İslâmic Geography. During that period Sutan Muzaffar al-Din Kukburi lived as the prince of Arbil and one of the commanders of Salah al-Din al-Ayyubi as well as he became his brother in low later. Sultan Muzaffar al-Din Kukburi, participated in the wars against Mongols and the Crusaders, he also had an important role in the battle of Hattin. Additionally he made a lot of effort and left important achievement for the development of Arbil and the welfare of residents of the city. He established the institutions for poors, orphans and widows, the institutions for education (such as Muzafferiye Madrasa), his projects for developing the trade (such as Muzafferiye Bazaar) and his helps for orphans in accordance with the social state principle can be evaluated in this context. In addition, according to the most of the sources, for the first time in the history of Islam, the Mawlid celebrations were initiated by Sultan Muzaffar al-Din. At the same time, he established a special guesthouse for guests, who were coming from outside of Arbil to participate in the Mawlid celebrations. Although Muzaffar al-Din Kukburi has achieved important successes for the Islamic World, he is not known much.
