Abstract (EN)

The concepts of technology and dynamism evolved through our age have shown their influence in every field of design, as well as reflected the stage applications, and have passed through many stages and reached its position in recent years. As the concept of stage design has various sub-themes, this study focuses solely on the review of musicals. The aim of this thesis is to analyze musical stage designs by using the data gained with an in-depth literature review on stage and its design by elaborating the understanding of flexible design. Within the scope of flexible and variable design principles, it was aimed to define the concepts in general terms by taking into consideration the discourses that have arisen so far. The mega-musicals, which have been on display for years and known world-wide, were studied, analyzed and evaluated based on the flexibility components of the stage designs. A matrix about the criteria of flexible design understanding was used during the analysis. Through using the matrix, it was aimed to make comparison and classification with a common language. Stage designs, which have been sustained for years, have been associated and analyzed together, with a flexible and variable design approach on a mega musical scale.
