İnvestigate the factors affecting the awareness of the biomedical and clinical engineering practices of the health personnel working in the Health Applied and Research Center of Namık Kemal University on the health and safety

ABSTRACT Clinical and Biomedical Engineering science, applying engineering principles to the field of medicine will always produce more advanced and available technologies. While developing these technologies, human and animal anatomical, physiological structures and systems by understanding the new, suitable for the living body develops new technologies to solve problems, improves health. Occupational health and safety is a set of regular and scientific studies aimed at protecting the health resulting from possible accidents and risks that may arise during work in the workplace from the damaging conditions that physically and spiritually affect. In this study, it is aimed to understand the importance of biomedical and clinical engineering in university hospital and its effects on occupational health and safety. In our study, the medical device users in the hospital were reached. The data about the devices they use and risks were collected and analyzed. Whether the users of the device are used efficiently while using the devices has been examined by our study. In addition, data were collected about the presence of a biomedical unit throughout the hospital and how the hospital benefited from this unit. Working with our employees and physicians who use medical devices in NKUSUAM nurses, technicians, medical personnel and administrators, including 240 people participated. A questionnaire was used to obtain data. The first questionnaire was prepared by investigating the relevant literature by the researchers. The second questionnaire was validated by Öztürk and the reliability and validity study was conducted by Öztürk. Biomedical and Clinical Engineering performs regular maintenance and renovation of devices in hospitals. It is also an important investment planner for hospitals and mediators between companies and hospitals. Applies and monitors the devices in accordance with the budget of the hospital. In addition, it monitors whether the devices are working properly and against their use. Therefore, they work in a wide range of hospitals. In the light of the data collected, the presence of the Biomedical Unit in the hospital is not known by the users of medical devices. However, its benefits have shown that the Biomedical Unit is usefully useful to patients, medical devices, and medical device users in the hospital. In addition, the presence of the biomedical unit is important for the safety of medical device users and patients. It has been observed that medical devices should be monitored in order to reduce the harmful effects of the devices. Devices may cause harmful effects to users and patients directly or indirectly.
