Abstract (EN)

This study discusses the growing nationalist politics of the Internal Macedonian Revolutionary Organization - Democratic Party of National Unity of Macedonia (VMRO-DPMNE) with the Skopje 2014 Project. Skopje 2014 has attracted the reaction of Turks, Albanians, and many others. In addition, the Macedonian administration's sole possession of the ancient Macedonian civilization has strained relations with Greece. Therefore, with Skopje 2014, political relations with Greece have also reached a stalemate. This tension with Greece also reflected negatively on Macedonia's accession process to the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) and the European Union (EU). During the Internal Macedonian Revolutionary Organization - Democratic Party of national unity of Macedonia (VMRO-DPMNE) rule, Greece has also vetoed Macedonia's attempts to negotiate with the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) and the European Union (EU) until very recently. This continued until the 2016 early parliamentary elections. In 2016, the Internal Macedonian Revolutionary Organization - Democratic Party of National unity of Macedonia (VMRO-DPMNE) government was forced to resign and the new government was established under the Union of Social Democrats (SDSM). Since then, Macedonia has experienced many changes in a short period of time. It solved the name problem with Greece, Macedonia's name was changed to North Macedonia, and North Macedonia became a full member of North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO). Key Words: VMRO-DPMNE, "SKOPJE 2014", FYRM, SDSM, PRESPA, NMK, EU, NATO.
