The concept of al-Amr in Basrî's work titled al-Mu'tamad fi Usûl al-Fiqh

Abu'l-Husayn al-Basrî is connected with the school of Basra Mu'tazilah. Al-Mu'tamad fi Usûl l-Fıqh written in the field of usûl al-fıqh by Basrî is the source of usûl al-fıqh thought in the late period. The concept of al-amr is a basic term for al-ahkam al-shar'riyya and it is important for the Muslims to live within the limits of Islamic life. On account of al-amr mood (sigha) is both used in Qur'an and hadith, usûlîs have analyzed the problem of al-amr. In this study Basrî's approach to al-amr is analyzed. The approach of Basrî to al-amr is different than his master Qadı Abduldjabbar's approach. This discrepancy becomes clear in al-amr's interpretation. According to Basrî, the meaning of al-amr is al-wujûb based on mood (sigha) and al-amr has husn-kubh attribute because of al-amr's purpose.
