Abstract (EN)

With the developing technology, one of the concepts we hear most often is undoubtedly the Internet of Things (IoT). Day by day, our environment is surrounded by these devices and our lives are getting more digital. In addition to the convenience and efficiency, digitalized lives also cause some convenience and difficulties in crime investigations. Many devices with IoT technology can contain valuable information that can be used in crime investigations. Human movements such as position information and route; in smart vehicle systems door opening/closing time, reaching how many people are in the vehicle from weight sensors, whether seat belts are fastened or not; through the sensors inside the building/house, many data such as whether unauthorized person is entered, if there is a fire, the starting point and time can be accessed. However, in addition to the convenience of Internet of Things devices, for conducting criminal investigation, there are also some difficulties. The main difficulties are the emergence of new devices and different technologies, the difficulty of accessing data with classical forensic methods, the inability of forensic experts to have sufficient experience in this field, and the inability of forensic software and hardware to fully respond to this technology. In this paper, in order to overcome these difficulties; it is aimed to examine the Internet of Things technology, which has started to take place in all areas of our daily life and allow many transactions to be performed remotely, in terms of forensic informatics and to be a source for these investigations.
