The distribution of intestine parasits on the 0?12 aged kids at Nizip (Gaziantep) region

Parasits infections still keep their importance in underdeveloped and developing countries as an important public health problem. These kinds of illnesses are seen quite often in the societies where hygiene and sanitation rules have not been complied with; whereas it is related with the socio-economic level, education status and cultural requirements of the society. The studies made both for people and pet animals, in Turkey, show explicitly that gastro-intestinal system diseases are the leading among all other health problems, even though they may indicate some differences due to the local development level and living styles/standards.The studies were done in Nizip State Hospital between May-August 2010, among 0?12 aged kids that consulted to the doctors for gastrointestinal problems claims. Faeces were analysed via direct microscopy and/or nativ-lugol methods. 47 out of 250 surveyed patients (18.8%), only one type parasite was seen. 46 of them (97.8%) were protozoon while the other one (2.12 %) was helmint. The percentage of frequency distribution of the parasites were noted as, 19Entamoeba coli (40.5%), 15-Entamoeba histolytica (31.9%), 12-Giardia intestinalis (25.5%) and 1-Ascaris lumbrocoides (2.1%). Surveys were done to the claimed kids to find out the factors between socio-demographic behaviours and parasits. In this study, made according to the genders? split, parasits were found at 21 girls (19,1%) and 26 boys (%18,6). While parasits were available at 14.4 % of the people who did not eat raw meat and vegetables; the ratio was 31.2 % between the people who ate them. Statistically, it was pointed out that it was a significant factor (P=0,002). To sum up, parasiter illness factors are very common among 0?12 ages children in Nizip.
