Abstract (EN)

This research project was conducted due to the low volume of research projects about Neofolk music and the absence of research projects about regional Neofolk music. The definitions and differences among Nordic Scandinavian and Fennoscandian cultures such as essential information about the history and roots of Neofolk music genre, the political ideology of the genre, the literary and mythological influences and how these influences impact the lyrics were taken in to study. The most prominent musical performers, the philosophy of Neofolk music and the instruments used were analyzed and the cultural differences in each Nordic countries and how they differentiates were included in this study. A literature review was performed to form the foundation for the introductory and intermediate proposals in this study. During the analysis of the intermediate proposals, interviews about the musical and philosophical details of Neofolk music were used. In conclusion, Neofolk music is a multifaceted genre. Nordic countries have many common features, creating an integrated and characteristic structure. It was found that, this structure of Nordic Neofolk music cannot be distinguished adequately without a deeper understanding of the philosophical background and the cultural aspects that influence it.
