Interpersonal conflicts and conflict resolution process in the children's books written by nur i̇çözü

The conflict processes, which are affected by several contributing factors, are encountered in children's literature as in any human relationship. The reason for the conflict process; the way to deal with it and the resolution of it, are important for a child who encounters a conflict process in a book. It is possible that the child reflects the conflict process, which they encountered in a book, upon the people they communicate with in real life. In this context, this study aims to analyze the conflict resolution processes between characters in Nur Icözü's works. The study carried out a document review which is one of the applicable qualitative research methods. The research scope consists of all the children's books written by Nur Icözü. Nur Icözü's works have been reviewed based on the fundamentals of children's books and analyzed depending on Johnson and Johnson's conflict resolution studies. Perceptions related to the conflicts and the process of improving conflict resolution skills, which are mentioned in the books, have been analyzed. The findings are stated in consideration of children's literature and are based on the principle of causality. The results are as follows: All 57 of Nur Icözü's books have been analyzed and it was discovered that 46 of them included interpersonal conflicts. According to the results, the conflicts in the books are caused by 'unsatisfied psychological needs'. Furthermore, collaboration and power use techniques are used to resolve the conflicts and the conflict resolutions have resulted in win-win situation (65,9% win-win in primary level books and 41,4% win-win in secondary level books). Consequently, that the conflicts have resulted in a win-win situation demonstrates that the books have been written according to the desired conflict resolution approach. It is suggested that intensity and resolution exacerbate the conflicts in the books and contribute to the readers cognitive and sensoral development.
