Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of Jeremy Krauss Approach (JKA) and Conventional Physiotherapy applications on postural control and balance in hypotonic children between the age of 0-3years old, with motor development delays. Thirty hypotonic children with motor development delays in the age of between 0 and 3 years old were included in the study. The participants were treated in the "Smile Hands For Kids" therapy center. The children are randomly divided into two groups, Jeremy Krauss Approach group (n=15) and Conventional Physiotherapy group (n=15). Both groups of participants had 45 minute sessions three times a week for a three month period. Jeremy Krauss Approach group received Jeremy Krauss Approach and Conventional Physiotherapy group received range of motion, strecthing, strenghtening exercises and neurophysiologic approaches. Children were assessed before, at the first, second and third month of the treatment. Outcome measures were GMFM, BAYLEY III (Social, emotional and adaptive), SPCM, TCMS and PBS. Both groups had statistically significant improvements in GMFM, BAYLEY III, SPCM, TCMS, PBS after the first, second and the third month of the treatment (p<0,01). Comparison of the groups, JKA was superior to Conventional Physiotherapy group in all outcome measures except PBS at the first month of the treatment (p<0,01). In conclusion, Jeremy Krauss Approach and Conventional Physiotherapy applications improved postural control and balance of hypotonic children with motor development delays between the age of 0-3 years old. Key words: Hypotonia, Postural Control, Balance , Jeremy Krauss Approach, Conventional Physiotherapy
