Abstract (EN)

AIM: For this purpose, it is aimed to detect suicide, which is one of the preventable causes of death, early, to take precautions, and to help develop appropriate treatments by determining the relationship between obsessive-compulsive and obsessive-compulsive death risk and social cognition and employment methods. METHODS: Our study sample consisted of patients (n=51) diagnosed with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, who applied to Balıkesir University Health Practice and Research Hospital Psychiatry Outpatient Clinic. The clinician performed a psychiatric evaluation according to the criteria of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, fifth edition (DSM-V). The patients' sociodemographic data form was filled, the severity of the disease by applying the Yale-Brown Obsession Compulsion Scale (Y-BOCS), cognitive flexibility scores by using the Cognitive Flexibility Inventory (CFI), social cognition scores by applying the Implicit Test and Reading Minds from the Eyes Test (RMET), Suicide Probability Scale The risk of suicide was also calculated by using the (SPS). RESULTS: When sociodemographic and clinical data were compared with SPS, suicidal ideation, and suicide attempt, no statistically significant difference was found (p>0.05). A positive correlation was found between the Y-BOCS scale and the total subscales of the SPS. This correlation was statistically significant (p<0.05). A negative correlation was found between the Y-BOCS scale and BEE, and a negative correlation was found between the total subscales of SPS and BEE (p<0.05). The BEE scores of people with past suicidal ideation were low (p<0.05). No statistically significant relationship was found between social cognition assessment scales and SPS (p>0.05). CONCLUSION: A relationship was found between low cognitive flexibility in OCD and high disease severity and suicide probability. Cognitive rigidity was thought to play a mediating role in increasing the likelihood of suicide. No relationship was found between social cognitive skills and suicide probability, past suicidal ideation, and suicide attempt history. It has been evaluated that therapeutic interventions to cognitive flexibility will contribute positively to suicide risk and disease prognosis. Key Words: Cognitive flexibility, executive functions, obsessive-compulsive disorder, social cognition, suicide
