Abstract (EN)

The oboe is a double-reed instrument. Arundo donax, the raw material of the reed, becomes capable of turning into an oboe reed after undergoing various processes. Players make the most suitable material for themselves, considering multiple external factors. Throughout history, the oboe reed had been developed along with the development of the oboe and has been adapted to the conditions of each period. A new scraping style of oboe that emerged on the North American continent from the 20th century has been separated from its ancestor, the European school, and became a school on its own. This research aims to analyze the formation, development and history of the two main reed making styles that are currently called the European and American schools.
