The effects of students? attitudes towards physics courseson students? academical acconplishment in physics courses

The aim of this study is to research the relation between the students attitudestowards physics courses and the academic accomplishment at the physics courses.For this research four subproblem had been inqured. The study was conducted with378 tenth grade science students. The study was put into practice at sixteen classfrom three Anatolian highschool, three highschool and three foreign languagehighschool in Ankara on the spring season of 2004-2005 education-instruction year.In this study, a Physics Courses Attitude Scale, which was developed by theresearcher and the student?s report card grade of physics courses were used. SPSS13.0 program was used to test hypothesis. The statistical studying fixed that theattitude towards physics courses and academic accomplishment have a pozitive butlow relation. The examines about subproblems was resulted as, in spite of boysattitude towards physics courses more pozitive than girls, girls academicaccomplishment is higher than boys. When this situation is exmined again, it isobserved that for boys the relation between attitudes towards physics courses andacademic accomplishment is higher than girls.
