Investigation of the relationship between environmental ethics awareness and science and technology literacy of pre-service teachers

This research was conducted to determine the environmental ethics awareness levels and science and technology literacy levels of science and classroom preservice teachers. In addition, pre-service teachers' environmental ethics awareness and science and technology literacy levels were examined in terms of some demographic characteristics and it was examined whether they made a difference. Another objective of the study is to examine the relationship between preservice teachers' awareness of environmental ethics and science and technology literacy. A total of 267 participants, 113 science and 154 classroom preservice teachers who were studying at Siirt University Faculty of Education in the spring term of 2018-2019 academic year participated in the study. The data were collected with a questionnaire using "Environmental Ethics Awareness Scale" and "Science and Technology Literacy Scale". The research is a descriptive study and scanning model. As a result of the research, it was determined that there is no statisfically considerable relations hip between the environmental ethics and classroom preservice teachers. Also, when pre-selvice teachers' environmental ethics awareness was examined in terms of some demographic traits; it was conciueded that there is no substantial difference between the issue of sex, class level lexcept for since teachers, literacy level of mother and father and being tought environment. When the science and technology literacy of pre- service teachers was examined occording to some demographic characteristics, it was concluded that there is no substantial difference between the issue of sex, class level, literacy level of mother, father and being taught environmentally but there is considerable difference in program.
