Abstract (EN)

With this research, it is aimed to determine the relationship between pre-service teachers' media literacy levels and global citizenship levels. In this context, in order to determine the relationship between media literacy levels and global citizenship levels of teacher candidates studying at Fırat University, İnönü University, Muş Alparslan University, Adıyaman University and Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University Education Faculties, which are 5 state universities in Turkey, in the 2021-2022 academic year. has been applied.There are a total of 1593 participants in the research. While 1593 of them are female participants, 446 of them are male participants. In the research, the relational model, which is one of the general scanning models, was used within the scope of the descriptive model. The global citizenship scale developed by Morais and Ogden (2011) and adapted to Turkish by Şahin and Çermik (2014) and the media literacy scale developed by Karaman and Karataş (2009) were used to collect data in the research. Data were collected through face-to-face surveys and online applications. The obtained data were transferred to the SPSS 21 program. Based on these data, the global citizenship levels and media literacy levels of teacher candidates; t test on the relationship between pre-service teachers' media literacy levels and global citizenship levels. , ANOVA, Correlation and Regression analyzes were performed. As a result of these analyzes; It was concluded that there is a positive and significant relationship between the total scores of the global citizenship scale and the total scores of the media literacy level determination scale. Again, a statistically significant result was reached that individuals with high media literacy levels also have high global citizenship levels, and it was concluded that media literacy level predicted pre-service teachers' global citizenship levels at a statistically significant level. The results obtained were interpreted on the basis of a certain discussion with similar studies in the literature, and as a result of the obtained results, some suggestions were made for practitioners and researchers.
