Investigation of the relationship between organizational identity, organizational commitment and organizational citizenship behavior in Anatolian Imam Hatip high schools according to teacher's perceptions

Abstract (EN)

In this study, the relationship between the perceptions of teachers working in Anatolian imam hatip high schools regarding organizational identity, organizational commitment and organizational citizenship behavior was examined. "Mixed method" was used in the research, in which qualitative and quantitative research techniques were used together. While the relational screening model was applied in the quantitative part of the research, a case study was used in the qualitative part. The quantitative data of the research were "Organizational Citizenship Behavior Scale" developed by Podsakoff, MacKenzie, Moorman and Fetter (1990) and Moorman (1991), "Organizational Commitment Scale" developed by Meyer, Allen and Smith (1993) and "Organizational Commitment Scale" developed by Arslan (2017). It was collected with measurement tools "Imam Hatip Schools Organizational Identity Perception Scale". The qualitative data of the research were collected with a semi-structured interview form developed by the researcher. The quantitative sample of the research consists of 1506 Anatolian Imam Hatip High School teachers in 23 provinces, selected from 12 geographical regions determined by the Turkish Statistical Institute as Level 1 in the Turkish Regions Classification. The qualitative sample of the research consists of 30 teachers working in Anatolian Imam Hatip High School, determined with the principle of maximum diversity. When analyzing quantitative data, generally descriptive analysis, Pearson correlation and multiple linear regression analysis are used; Content analysis method was used when analyzing qualitative data. According to the quantitative data findings of the research, it was determined that the perception levels of Anatolian Imam Hatip High School teachers regarding organizational identity, organizational commitment and organizational citizenship behaviors were statistically above the general average. In addition, a positive significant relationship was found between the perceptions of imam hatip high school teachers regarding organizational identity, organizational commitment and organizational citizenship behaviors. In addition, it was determined that teachers' perceptions of organizational identity and organizational commitment had an impact on organizational citizenship behaviors. According to the qualitative research results of the study, the factors affecting teachers' citizenship behavior were determined to be personality traits, school image, in-school communication, school belonging, stakeholder support, and approach to the teaching profession.When the findings of the quantitative and qualitative research were evaluated together, it was determined that the results of the quantitative and qualitative research supported each other.
