A systematic review of the literature for teacher motivation

This study, which aims to compare the findings and prominent recommendations by examining the general characteristics and current status of scientific studies on teacher motivation in domestic and foreign literature and provide comprehensive information on teacher motivation, is carried out with a systematic compilation design from qualitative research methods. The document analysis method was used as a data collection method in the research. The research data were obtained by scanning from databases such as Google Scholar and the National Thesis Center of the Council of Higher Education. The keyword "Öğretmen Motivasyonu" was used in Turkish searches and "Teacher Motivation" in foreign literature searches. After the literature review, the abstracts of the studies reached were read and evaluated in compliance with the determined criteria. 40 scientific studies published in the domestic and foreign literature between 2015-2021 were included in the research. The content analysis method was used to analize the studies. In content analysis, studies were evaluated separately according to years, research purpose, research type, research method, research design, findings and prominent suggestions. At the end of the study, according to the general characteristics of the studies dealing with teacher motivation, it was seen that the number of studies in Turkish was higher than the studies in English, and that the number of articles was higher than the theses, and the researches in these studies generally used quantitative methodology. In addition, it has been observed that researchers often focus on the effect of organizational-managerial factors on teacher motivation. In the findings of the research, they highlight the results that emphasize the relationship between organizational factors and teacher motivation, and the suggestions made based on the research results are generally suggestions with orientation content.
