The relationship between teachers' multicultural education perceptions and classroom management skills

The purpose of this research is to examine the relationship between multicultural education perceptions and classroom management skills of teachers working throughout Turkey in the 2020-2021 academic year. For this purpose, the correlational study model, one of the quantitative research methods, was used in the research. The study group of the research consists of 362 teachers in different branches from various provinces of Turkey. In order to collect the quantitative data of the study, the Multicultural Efficiency Perceptions Scale (MEPS) and the Classroom Management Skills Scale (CMSS) were applied to the teachers. SPSS version 26 was used in the analysis of the data. In the normality analysis test, it was determined that the distribution was not normal according to the skewness and curtosis values. For this reason, non-parametric methods were used in the analysis of the data. During the analysis of the data, in addition to descriptive statistics, the Kruskal-Wallis test was used when examining variables with three or more groups, and the Mann-Whitney U test was used in pairwise group comparisons. Pearson Product Moments Correlation Coefficient was used to examine the relationships between two dependent variables. As a result of the research, a low negative correlation was found between teachers' perceptions of multicultural education and their classroom management skills.
