Abstract (EN)

This study is carried out to determine the relationship between the emotional labor demonstrations of teachers working in public schools and their level of adherence to the psychological contract they formed against the institution they work. In line with this main purpose, an answer to the question "Is there a significant relationship between teachers' demonstrations of emotional labour and their level of adherence to the psychological contract?" is being searched. The research was carried out in relational survey model. The population of the research consists of 1502 teachers working in Gediz, Şaphane, Simav and Çavdarhisar district of Kütahya province in the 2019-2020 academic year. 405 public school teachers constitute the sample of the study, which was selected with the easily accessible sampling method. The research data have been collected with "Emotional Labour Scale" adapted to Turkish by Basım and Begenirbaş (2012) and "Level of Adherence to the Psychological Contract Scale" developed by Koçak (2016). For the statistical analysis of the data, Confirmatory Factor Analysis, Arithmetic Mean, One-Way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), Independent Samples t-Test, Pearson Product-Moment Coefficient and Multiple Regression Analysis are used. According to the results obtained from the research, it is determined that the perception levels of teachers towards the demonstrations of emotional labour are low in the surface acting sub-dimension, high in the deep acting sub-dimension, and very high in the genuine emotions sub-dimension. It is observed that the perception levels of teachers towards adherence to the psychological contract, which is the other variable of the research, are very high in the effort towards institutional development, and high in the extra performance and loyalty dimensions and in total of the psychological contract. When the correlations between teachers' demonstrations of emotional labour and their level of adherence to the the psychological contract are examined, it is found that between the teachers' level of adherence to the psychological contract and genuine emotions sub-dimension, there is a positive and moderate correlation. Finally, deep acting and genuine emotion behaviors towards teachers' emotional labour can significantly explicate 12% of their level of adherence to the psychological contract.
