An implementation to develop teacher's moral capital

The primary purpose of this research is to reveal the development of moral capital empirically and to determine the views of teachers participating in the Moral Capital Development Program (MCDP) by examining their perceptions about the program. In this context, it aims to monitor the changes in the participants' perceptions before and after the MCDP and present the results comparatively. For this purpose a six-week MCDP was designed based on dimensions of moral capital. The study group consists of 38 teachers working in public schools operating in Gaziantep in the 2019-2020 academic year. From the study groups, the experimental group (N=19) was observed by being included in the program, and the control group (N=19) was observed without being included in the program. An explanatory sequential design, in which quantitative and qualitative methods are used together, was used in the research. In this context, the moral capital scale was applied to the participants to obtain quantitative data in examining the effectiveness of MCDP. A semi-structured interview form was prepared to get qualitative data and interviews were conducted with each teacher (N=19) in the study group. In the qualitative part, phenomenological research design was used. According to the quantitative and qualitative findings obtained from the research, a significant and positive difference was observed in the moral capital levels of the teachers trained within the scope of MCDP. Therefore, it has been supposed that the level of moral capital perception can be improved.
