The impact of principals on organizational culture in schools and its correlation with job satisfaction of teachers

Abstract (EN)

The main purpose of this research was to determine the role of school principals in establishing ogranizational culture in schools and to understand its relation with job satisfaction of teachers. This concept is examined concerning the gender, age, seniority in career, specialty and education level. The target of the research was teachers who work in the city of Duzce and the samples consist of 263 teachers working in 23 public schools. The schools are picked randomly and the teachers were embedded in the research with cluster sample method. An unidimensional school culture and three dinnengional job satisfaction scale which includes job environment and oppartunities, economic oppartunities, security and develeopment were used. The collected data was analyzed in SPSS program. In order to determine if the role of the school principals in establishing organizational culture in schools and its relation with job satisfaction differs with the gender, age, education level, subject and seniority in career of the teachers, t-test, ANOVA and Kruskal Wallis tests were used. In order to understand if there is a significant relationship between the role of the principal in establishing the organizational culture and job satisfaction of teachers, Pearson Correlation analysis was also used. The results of the research were as followed: There was not a significant correlation between the role of the managers in schools and the age, gender, education level, specialty and seniority in career. The subcategories of job satisfaction, material opportunities, security and improvement, have a positive significant correlation with the role of the manager in establishing an organizational culture. Another subcategory of job satisfaction, management support, has a very significant, relatively positive correltion with the role of the manager in establishing an organizational culture. The other subcategories of job satisfaction, work environment and opportunities have a positive, medium correlation with the role of the managers.
