Abstract (EN)

This study aimed to examine the relationship between preschool children's Oppositional Defiant Disorder and their parents' parental attitudes. The sample of this survey, one of the quantitative research methods, consisted of children attending preschool education institutions affiliated with the Ministry of National Education and their parents. Parent Information Form, Early Childhood Inventory-4 Parent Form (ECE-4: EF) and Parental Attitude Scale were used in the study. The data of the study were analyzed using the SPSS-26 package program. Among the 1002 data collected, 74 children with Oppositional Defiant Disorder were identified and analyzes were conducted on the data of these 74 children. As a result of the analyses, a negative significant relationship was found between Oppositional Defiant Disorder and democratic parental attitude, and a positive significant relationship was found between Oppositional Defiant Disorder, and authoritarian parental and permissive parental attitudes. No significant relationship was found between Oppositional Defiant Disorder and overprotective parental attitude. It was determined that although the levels of "authoritarian attitude" and "permissive attitude" adopted by parents was low, the levels of the "democratic attitude" and "overprotective attitude" was high. It was determined that parents' parental attitudes showed a significant difference in democratic and authoritarian parental attitudes based on their closeness to the child (being mother or father). It was found that parents' parental attitudes showed a significant difference in democratic parental attitudes according to the number of children. It was also determined that parents' attitudes showed a significant difference in overprotective parental attitudes according to the mother's education level, father's education level, mother's working status, the child's duration of preschool education and the child's birth order. It was found that the mean scores of Oppositional Defiant Disorder in preschool children were at the low and medium level limit. Also, it was determined that the oppositional defiant disorder of preschool children showed a significant difference according to the education level of the father and the monthly income of the family.
