Abstract (EN)

ABSTRACT TEACHERS' AND PARENTS' VİEWS ON FİNANCİAL LİTERACY SKİLLS PROVİDED İN THE PRESCHOOL PERİOD Zehra BEYAZYÜZ 2025/Page: XIII+102 The aim of this study is to examine teachers' and parents' views on financial literacy in the preschool period. A qualitative research approach was adopted, and the study was designed using the phenomenological research design. The study group consisted of 10 preschool teachers working in kindergarten classes affiliated with a primary school located in the city center of Siirt during the 2024–2025 academic year, and 20 parents of children attending the same institution, selected through criterion sampling. Data were collected using a semi-structured interview form developed by the researcher. The interviews were conducted face-to-face; audio recordings were transcribed, and the data were analyzed using the content analysis method. The findings were structured under two main categories: teachers' views and parents' views. The findings indicate that parents contribute to the development of children's financial literacy by serving as role models and involving children in daily life practices; however, limitations in parents' levels of financial knowledge and awareness may partially hinder this process. In addition, both teachers' and parents' views highlight that play-based activities, concrete experiences, the use of rich instructional materials, and effective school–family collaboration play a significant role in fostering financial literacy skills in early childhood. Based on the results of the study, several recommendations were developed, including the systematic integration of financial literacy and consumer awareness into preschool education programs, the expansion of professional development opportunities aimed at enhancing teachers' competencies in this field, and the widespread implementation of school-based projects designed to strengthen parental awareness. Keywords: Preschool education, financial literacy, teachers' views, parents' views, consumption awareness, Türkiye Century Education model.
