An analysis of the relationship between preschool teachers' emotional competence and their educational leadership behavior: A case study in Gaziantep central

The purpose of this study is to clarify the relation of emotional intelligence competency and educational leadership behaviors of preschool teachers who are working in Gaziantep province. The population of the study consists of 770 preschool teachers working for private and public preschools in Gaziantep. Sample of the study consists of 102 preschool teachers chosen randomly. A descriptive study of relational research. This model, personal awareness, interpersonal relationship, stress management, ability of adaption and general emotional status subtitles of emotional intelligence are compared with the educational leadership behavior. The research result display strong correlation between preschool teachers? emotional intelligence competences and their instructional leadership behaviors. Furthermore, a meaningful difference has been found between preschool teachers? instructional leadership behaviors and the variable of whether they work at a state or private school. It has been seen that the instructional leadership behaviors of preschool teachers working at private schools are higher than those of the teachers at state schools.
