Abstract (EN)

The aim of this research is to examine the difference between the social, emotional and moral development of students who participate in school sports and those who do not. The research was carried out as a descriptive study in the general survey model, one of the quantitative method designs. The data of the research were collected by applying the "Social Emotional and Moral Development Scale" and "Personal Information Form" to a total of 627 participants from 7th and 8th grade students studying in secondary schools in Van. As a result of the analysis, it was found that the social, emotional and moral developments of the students who participated in school sports were higher than the students who did not participate in school sports. Participation in school sports and the variables of grade level, whether or not they have been disciplined, family income level and mostly the place where they grew up together create a significant difference on social, emotional and moral development. On the other hand, the education level of the mother and father shows a significant difference only on social, emotional and moral development. It has been seen that the duration of sports and sports branches are also related to social, emotional and moral development. The findings obtained from the research were discussed in the context of the literature and suggestions were presented on the subject. Keywords: School Sports; Social Development; Emotional Development; Moral Development
