Investigation of curriculum literacy levels of school administrators and teachers

Abstract (EN)

The general aim of the study is to examine the curriculum literacy of school administrators working at various levels and the teachers working in the same schools. Correlational survey model was used in the research. The sample of the research consists of 121 school administrators and 359 teachers working in the central district of Yozgat province in the 2020-2021 academic year. "School Administrators Curriculum Literacy Scale" and "Teachers' Curriculum Literacy Scale" were used as data collection tools in the research. In the analysis of the research data, independent samples t-test, Mann Whitney U test, one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA), LSD test, Kruskal Wallis-H test and Spearman Brown rank correlation test were used for independent groups. As a result of the research, it is concluded that curriculum literacy levels of school administrators and teachers are above the average. It is found that the curriculum literacy of the teachers don't differ significantly in terms of gender, seniority, branch, and school levels; but there is a significant difference according to the frequency of curriculum review. It is determined that the curriculum literacy of school administrators don't differ significantly according to gender, seniority, school level, and administration position; but there is significant difference according to the frequency of examination. In addition, it is determined that the curriculum literacy improves as the frequency of curriculum review increases. It is concluded that there is no relationship between school administrators and teachers' curriculum literacy.
