The Level of qualifications of the preschool teachers and preschool in the use of educational drama

Thesis The Level of Qualifications of the Pre-School Teachers and Pre-School Candidates in the use of Educational Drama Aysun GÜROL University of Fırat Institute of Social Sciences Department of Educational Sciences September-2002, Pages: 211 Educational drama has an important place in pre-school. The aim of this study is to determine the opinions and qualifications of pre-school education teachers and teacher candidates about drama in education. A survey method was used in the study. The population includes both pre-school education teachers and students studying pre-school education program. The data were obtained from 377 teachers, 514 students and 22 university educators. The data were analyzed by means of SPSS packet program. A likert style questionnaire was used. Factor analysis was used (KMO: 84, Barlett's test: 21192,55). 1. The results according to application. According to teachers: - Drama teacher should be trained through under graduate, graduate and in-service training program. - The most faced problems include physical inadequacy, lack of practice and lack of educational materials. - The duration, the content, and the number of the in-service training should be increased. The In service training programs should be planned regularly and should be realized in various centers.. According to Teacher Candidates: - University educators have enough knowledge about educational drama. - Educational drama is necessary and class hours and its credit should not be decreased. - Educational drama courses at the faculty should be taught by those who were trained in educational drama and theatre field, and by pre school and classroom teachers,. According to University Educators: - Educational drama should be given in two different courses designed hierarchically.. The number of post-graduates programs should be increased andVII those give drama courses. - The content of educational drama course should be developed. 2. The results on the Benefits of Educational Drama. Both teachers and students accepted the benefits of educational drama. 3. The Results Related to the Qualifications of Educational Drama. While teachers know and apply the qualifications of educational drama at the level of "much", they accepted necessary at the level of "completely".. While there is no significant difference at the level of knowing and applying qualifications of the teachers according to the university variable, there is a significant difference at the level of accepting necessary.. There is not a significant difference at the level of knowing, applying and accepting necessary the qualifications of the teachers according to the variable of length of duty.. While there is a significant difference at the level of knowing qualifications of the teachers according to the variable of taking drama course, there is not a significant difference at the level of applying and accepting it necessary.. According to the school type (A,B,C) variable where the teachers work, there is not a significant difference at the level of knowing, applying and accepting necessary the qualifications.. According to the variable of the socio-economic level of the school where the teachers work, while there is not a knowing and accepting necessary the qualifications, there is a significant level at the of applying.. While the students know the quality of educational drama at the level of "much", they think the same qualifications necessary at the level of "completely".. While there is a significant difference between students' knowing qualifications and university variable where they study, there is not a significant difference in accepting it necessary.. According to the variable students' accepting their teachers sufficient, there is not a significant difference at the level of knowing and accepting necessary the qualifications.. There is a significant difference between the results of knowing the quality of educational drama..
