Abstract (EN)
In this study, as based on constructivist approach, the effect of the entry preparedabout heat-temperature for the subject of science and technology on the academicachievement and retention of fifth-grade primary school students has been researched.This study has been carried out with fifth-grade students at Münire HanımPrimary School in Osmaniye during 2005-2006 academic year.The samples of thisstudy has been selected randomly out of 72 students; 36 of that constitute theexperiment group and 36 of that constitute the control group. While a method based onconstructivist approach has been applied to control group, computer-supportedapplications which are based on constructivist approach has been carried out withexperiment group.At the end of the research, in terms of academic success of students, aconsiderable difference in favour of experiment group has been found; whereas aconsiderable difference has been found in favour of experiment group in terms ofretention of learned knowledge.Key Words: Learning, Constructivism, Science Teaching, Computer-SupportedEducation, Simulation
