Abstract (EN)

In a second language learning stage, level-appropriate storybooks are the most essential resource that every student needs. Therefore, in order to facilitate the learning of the students, either original texts should be prepared or the works written by Turkish writers with cultural values should be simplified. In order to teach Turkish as a foreign language, many reference books have been written and published. However, it is seen that there are not many resources that students can reach when they search for auxiliary resources. It is known that the search for resources is of great importance at A1 level in a foreign language learning process. In this process, the student needs resources that are suitable for his / her level and include exercises. Taking these reasons into consideration, the aim of the study is to create appropriate stories for students at the A1 and A2 levels who learn Turkish as a second language. At the stage of adapting the stories to the level, the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages was examined and in this process, the best possible benefit to the students was determined. In addition, Turkish authors and works will be introduced to students with the simplification of the texts. In this study, the stories of Ömer Seyfettin were reached and it was assumed that the stories of "Başını Vermeyen Şehit, Büyücü, Çakmak, Diyet, Korkunç Bir Ceza, Külah, Üç Öğüt ve Yüksek Ökçeler" were suitable for A1 and A2 students. It is assumed that the objective of the simplification and adaptation of the auxiliary reading texts is to act objectively and to prepare a study based on scientific data. Ömer Seyfettin's stories are adapted to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. In the study, after the adaptation phase, in order to improve students' reading skills, vocabulary exercises as pre-reading activity, reading comprehension questions and exercises as post-reading activity were prepared. The selected stories were adapted and simplified based on the language acquisition, grammar and vocabulary levels of A1 and A2 students. Keywords: Foreign language learning, Ömer Seyfettin, adapting and simplifying stories, teaching Turkish to foreigners.
