Abstract (EN)
Religion is a set of teachings that encompasses life, has certain rules, orders and prohibitions, and whose boundaries are sometimes flexible and sometimes rigidly drawn. Folk beliefs express the aspect of these teachings carried to individual and social life. These are found in different ways by the number of believing individuals in the tradition. Some of the folk beliefs, which are the ways of understanding and experiencing religion, have survived to the present day, some of them intact as they were experienced in the past, while others have been transformed into a new form by various factors. The Turks who settled in the Ordu region in the past have carried some beliefs and practices specific to Traditional Turkish Religion and culture with the cultural and religious heritage of previous nations to the present day within Islam. The aim of the study is to determine the ways of living folk beliefs and practices in Oluklu Neighbourhood. Recording folk beliefs, which is a spiritual element of culture and the way religion is perceived, means protecting many oral culture assets. Today, the practice of most folk beliefs has been abandoned, as have some traditions and customs that are about to disappear under the influence of dominant foreign cultures. For this reason, many folk beliefs are in danger of being lost and not being passed on to future generations. In this study, it is aimed to record and transfer the folk beliefs living in the neighbourhood to the next generations to prevent the same fate. The study will reveal the traces of traditional Turkish beliefs and Islam in the folk beliefs and practices in the neighbourhood. It is thought that determining the folk beliefs and practices related to the transition periods in the neighbourhood will contribute to the field of History of Religions.
