The impact of organizational culture on corporate sustainability: An examination of the roles of individual and social responsibility, organizational communication satisfaction, and digital citizenship

Abstract (EN)
The idea that the cultural dimension of sustainability cannot be fully understood without being examined and that the transformation towards sustainability necessitates various cultural changes is not a new view. The key concept that ensures the adoption of sustainability by the entire institution and its integration into business processes is organizational culture. Today, it is argued that universities aiming to enhance corporate sustainability, thereby gaining recognition, prestige, and competitive advantage, should place greater emphasis on organizational culture and practices. The success and sustainability of universities, which bear the responsibility of training qualified human resources for society, depend on the performance of both academic and administrative staff. As service institutions, universities conduct all their operations and processes based on organizational culture through communication. The most important factor shaping organizational communication, individual and social responsibility, and regulating the functioning within the organization is the organizational culture. In this context, the main purpose of the study is to determine the mediating role of organizational communication satisfaction, individual and social responsibility, and the moderating role of digital citizenship in the impact of organizational culture on corporate sustainability. This study includes five main scales and their sub-dimensions. The sample of the study, consisting of 529 academic and administrative personnel from a public university, was reached through convenience sampling. SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Science) for Windows 27.0 and SAS version 9.4 programs were used for statistical analyses of the data obtained in the study. According to the findings, organizational culture has a significant and substantial effect on corporate sustainability. In this interaction, organizational communication satisfaction was found to have a significant and strong mediating effect, while individual and social responsibility had a low but significant mediating effect. Furthermore, digital citizenship was found to have a positive and significant moderating role in this interaction. Findings related to demographic variables are presented in detail in the research methodology section.
