The relationship between organizational health and professional motivation

The aim of the study is to determine the predictive level of organizational health of teachers working in secondary schools on professional motivation. The research is a study in quantitative, relational scanning model. The universe of the research consisted of 987 teachers working in 43 secondary schools in Kırıkkale city center, Bahşili and Yahşihan districts in the 2019-2020 academic year. 308 teachers working in 12 secondary schools composed the sample of the study. To collect research data; "Organizational Health Scale", "Occupational Motivation Scale" and "Personal Information Form" were used. Both scales are 5-point Likert type and the health scale consists of 6 sub-dimensions and the motivation scale consists of 5 sub-dimensions. The data obtained in the study were analyzed with a statistical program. T- test was used to analyze whethes the organizational health and professional motivation perceptions of the data differ according to gender; on the other hand, one-way ANOVA was conducted to analyz whether it differentiotes according to seniority and field variables. Post-Hoc Tukey test was conducted to determine from which groups the difference found in ANOVA result. Multiple regression analysis was used to determine the predictive level. In the analysis of the data .05 significance level was taken as basis. In the research findings, teachers stated that their schools were healthy and their professional motivation was high. Male teachers agreed that there was teacher commitment and motivation in their schools less than female teachers. Teachers with 1-5 years of professional seniority found their school less healthy than teachers with seniority of 16 years or more. According to the field variable, teachers' views on organizational health and professional motivation did not differ. It has been observed that organizational health is a significant predictor of professional motivation. A significant, positive and moderate relationship was found between organizational health and professional motivation. Organizational health explains 37% of professional motivation. One unit increase in organizational health causes an increase of .76 units in professional motivation. Organizational health sub-dimensions together explain pleasure and devotion 32% of motivation, 30% of contribution motivation, 27% of value motivation and 15% of commitment motivation.
