A study on exposing the effects of negative leadership on employees in organizational context

In this thesis, it is aimed to answer the questions of "What is the impact of negative leadership on employees?" and "What are the behavior and characteristics of negative leaders?" In this context, in the first chapter, the concept of leadership has been defined in details, the conceptual development of leadership in years has been researched and the importance of the concept of leadership has been mentioned. In the second chapter of the thesis, negative leadership theories are examined in details. The research that constitutes the basis of the thesis is given in the third chapter. Employees who were exposed to negative leadership were asked about the behaviors and characteristics of their negative leaders, examples of discourses, and the effects of negative leadership on themselves and their work. It has been researched what kind of strategies they would develop in order to cope with negative leadership, what kind of solutions they would develop if they were managers of negative leaders and what they would suggest to those working with negative leaders like themselves. Finally, employees were asked about the effects of negative leadership on institutions and other employees and the opinions obtained were subjected to qualitative content analysis and suggestions were developed for employees, leaders, managers and practitioners.
