Interaction between organizational climate and communication climate: A study OMU Farms Foundation

Today organizations live in a competitive world in which they have to survive. An effective organizational management is key to the success in this competition. One of the most important characteristics of an effective organization is existance of a healthy communication between its members. As the communication climate gets better, it will result in increased productivity and effectiveness.In this study, communication climate in three financial enterprises within Ondokuz Mayıs University Foundation is examined. Participants of this research consisted of 59 female and 96 male employees who were chosen randomly. As a survey research, this study employed the Turkish version of Gibb?s Comunication Climate Inventory to collect data. Parametric and nonparametric methods were used to analyze the data.Findings of the study revealed that the three financial enterprises within Ondokuz Mayis University Foundation have neutral communication climate. In addition, their climate differ in terms of defensive and supportive communication levels. What is more, employees? views on communication climate within their enterprises found to be not differentiating in terms of their gender, years of experience, and educational background. Based on these findings, this study provides suggestions to have a beter communication climate in financial enterprises.Keywords: Communication, organizational communication, organizational climate, Organizational climate perception.
