Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of employees' affective cynicism and affective commitment on their altruistic behavior. In addition, it is to examine whether the aforementioned variables differ according to gender and tenure. Dataset of the research consisted of 294 questionnaires gathered from healthcare professionals working at Hakkari State Hospital. Data entry and analyses of the research were carried out by using SPSS 24 software. Analyses of exploratory factor, internal consistency, Pearson correlation and simple linear regression as well as independent samples t-test and one-way ANOVA were employed in this study. The results suggest that affective cynicism is a negative predictor of altruistic behavior, while affective commitment is a positive predictor of it. In this study, it is concluded that it is possible to boost the positive impacts of healthcare professionals' altruistic behavior on hospitals and thus to contribute to them by increasing their altruistic behavior level thanks to their both lower level of affective cynicism and higher level of affective commitment. Other results suggest that healthcare professionals' affective cynicism and affective commitment levels do not show a statistically significant difference according to gender, but their altruistic behavior levels show a statistically significant difference according to gender. Also, healthcare professionals' affective cynicism and affective commitment levels show a statistically significant difference according to tenure, but their altruistic behavior levels do not show a statistically significant difference according to tenure.
