Abstract (EN)
Individual, team and organizational competencies, as well as the behaviors of managers, have a vital function in the effective performance of firefighters, one of the most challenging professions in which employee psychology is an important component. There is a need for guiding studies to reduce the negative aspects of supervisor incivility, which is one of the factors that cause stress for firefighters, and to develop organizational competencies that will support a transformation and sustainability, especially in terms of the challenging aspects of the profession. However, there is not enough research on organizational competence that will be the basis for sustainable disaster management in fire departments. The aim of the study, which focuses on eliminating the lack of findings in the literature, is to reveal the effects of organizational competence and supervisor incivility on psychological outcomes and to determine whether the fear of missing out (FOMO) plays a moderator role in the relations between these variables. The sample of the study consists of fire department employees in the provinces (Malatya, Elazığ, Bingöl and Tunceli) within the borders of TRB1 region (n=591). The data in the study was collected with the help of a questionnaire consisting of organizational competency scale developed by the researchers themselves, using the some studies (Ahn and Kim, 2013; Yoon and Choi, 2018; Elbaz et al., 2018), supervisor incivility scale developed by Cortina et al. (2001), Diener et al.'s (2009) flourishing scale as psychological outcomes, life satisfaction scale adopted by Diener et al. (1985), general happiness scale designed by Lyubomirsky and Lepper (1999), and Przybylski et al's (2013) ) scale of the fear of missing out. In order to test the model and hypotheses of the research, first the measurement model was developed and then the hierarchical regression procedure proposed by Aiken and West (1991) and Dawson's (2014) simple slope analysis were used to verify the effects of the interaction terms in the model. According to the research findings, it has been determined that organizational competence has a positive effect on flourishing, life satisfaction and general happiness dimensions of psychological outcomes. In addition, it has been observed that the fear of missing out has a moderator effect on the relationships between organizational competence and flourishing, life satisfaction and general happiness dimensions of psychological outcomes. On the other hand, according to the findings, it has been determined that supervisor incivility has a negative and significant effect on flourishing, life satisfaction and general happiness dimensions of psychological outcomes. In addition, it was determined that the fear of missing out played a moderator role in the relationship between supervisor incivility and general happiness dimension of psychological outcomes. Nevertheless, it was revealed that the fear of missing out did not play a moderator role in the relationships between supervisor incivility and flourishing and life satisfaction dimensions of psychological outcomes. Finally, some limitations of this research are given, some inferences are made from the findings of this study and some suggestions for fire department employees and supervisors are presented, and some suggestions for researchers related to the subject in the future are given.
