Abstract (EN)

The Computer Science lesson prepared by the Ministry of Education in accordance with the yields of technological developments has been implemented in high schools since 2017-2018 academic year. Hence, the aim of this research is to reveal the ideas and experiences of the teachers about the curriculum, which can put forward recommendations to the decision makers and teachers. Explanatory sequential mixed method was used in the research, and in order to collect quantitative data, a survey was applied to 106 Information Technologies teachers giving Computer Science lessons in high schools in Turkey to describe the opinions of the teachers about the program. As for collection of the qualitative data, a structured interview form was prepared based on the quantitative data, and face-to-face interviews were carried out with 6 Information Technologies teachers giving lessons in high schools in Izmir to go into the details of the situation. The results show that the acquisitions of the curriculum fit the requirements of the 21st century; however, some topics are unnecessarily detailed, it is very difficult to realize these acquisitions in current conditions of the schools, and there are not any printed textbooks, guidebooks or in-service training for teachers, which creates a gap in planning learning and teaching activities.
