In order to reveal the reasons and expectations of students who begin sports and choice the sport field in secondary education instituions

SUBJECT: IN ORDER TO REVEAL THE REASONS AND EXPECTATIONS OFSTUDENTS WHO BEGIN SPORTS AND CHOISG THE SPORTF ELD N SECONDARY EDUCAT ON NSTITUIONSOUTHOR: Gökhan Hakan YILDIZABSTRACTThe present research aims to reveal what kinds of expectations and reasons of sportsfield students? to chose this field in secondary education institutions, whether theyengage with active sport, to be unsuccessful in the other lessons or there is any otherfactor beyond these.The sample of the research covers 5 different secondary education institutions thattrain students in the field of sports within the borders of the Ankara province and 212students in tenth and eleventh grade level.In the research instruments that were used to collect data were scanning, questionaireand interview.The SPSS program was used to analyze collected data. Answers of the items whichinclude different kinds of sports field students? features were evaluated on the base ofitem separately. Results were interpreted according to percentage and frequency.Student?s replies are examined to find any relationship between in the first part of thequestionnaire which consist of personal questions and in the second part of thequestionnaire which consist of the reason to begin sport, to choose sport branch andstudents? expectations by using chi-square, independent sample t-test and singledirection variance analyse (ANOVA) tests.Comparing the statistics analysis, significant levels were calculated at p<0,05.The data which obtained from the research reveal that approximately almost allstudents made preference to chose a field consciously by the way of their interestsand whishes and it also revealed that the most significant factor that children begin tosport is the family. Furthermore, this research shows us the sports field studentschose their field to be an active sportsman and love to be engage with sport, but notby chance.According to the research almost all students ordered their preference to continuetheir life to be firstly as a sportsman, secondly as a sports trainer, thirdly as aphysical education teacher.Key Words: To choose branch, sports, sport job, occupational expectations, guidancein secondary education instituions
