Evaluation of high school psychology course curricula

In this research the curriculum of psychology course at the secondary schools in Turkey has been examined. In this research historical method is used and books, articles, research theses etc. have been examined. For this reason the type of the research is scan type. Research universe is formed by curriculum of ministry of Education. And the research sample is formed by ministry of Edication Secondary School psychology course curriculums from the establishment of Turkish Republic to the present year 1924, 1938, 1957, 1976, 1993, 2009.In the first part the problem, the aim, importance and the method of the research are putporth.In the second part what psychology is, the historical development of psychology and its development in Turkey have been handled.In the third part psychology programmes at the secondary schools in Turkey have been dealt within the historical process. In this part the place of psychology in secondary school programmes from 1924 to the present is has been examined in details. The content of the curriculum, its aims and studies related to content development have also been examined in this part.In the fourth part, secondary school psychology course curriculums from the establishment of Turkish Republic to the present has been evaluated separately and comperatively.In the fifth part, how to plan the teaching of psychology and the selection of psychology books have been stated.In the sixth part, teaching strategies, learning models, teaching methods and techniques to be used in the teaching of psychology in secondary education in terms ofprinciples, methods and techniques have been examined. The usage of materials in the teaching of psychology has also been mentioned.In the seventh part, assessment and evaluation in psychology teaching, the features of assessment tools, the assessment of cognitive and affective behaviours, the assessment techniques, evaluation and grading in psychology teaching have all been mentioned.In the last part of the research, an overview to the psychology course curriculums has been reached and the study some results have been obtained as regards the teaching of psychology.
