Teaching of press drawing techniques in art courses at secondary schools

Main aim of this study is to determine the problems, faced by teachersduring teaching and application of the ?Original Pres Drawing Techniques?, whichexits under Secondary Education, Drawing Course Education Program, andproduction of solutions to these problems and reveal how these technigues (advancedpres techniques) according to student centered application model within junior highschools.A questionnaire in connection with ?Problems Faced Teaching andApplications of Press Drawing Techniques? is applied to the art lecturers (DrawingTeachers), who works for randomly chosen 80 secondery education schools (highschools) from city of Ankara, City Center provinces under the research. Problems aredetermined and alternative solution suggestions are tried to be produced. Relatedwith the replies from this questionnaire, an in-services training (ref. Annex 1) inconnection with ?Teaching of Original Pres Drawing Techniques? is submitted to theDrawing Teachers.Pres techniques as well as different subjects from curriculum are performedto each student in from group study within two scholls from Ankara with differentpossibilities and class attendances. Curriculum and applications are performedaccording to student centered education application model understanding.It is seen that positive results are obtained with student centered educationapplication model, realized with intense participation of the student and differentmaterials and course activities, used by Art Lecturer during course handling withsuperior efforts and self-sacrifice, even under the conditions, such as insufficiency ofphysical conditions of the schools, crowd of class attendances and absence ofworkshops. It is observed that students are satisfied from this application, techniqueis fully thought and courses were very productive with applied activities and activeparticipations of students. Responds of students had also shown the succes of thismodel.
