Examining the subject of integers according to DNR-based education of secondary school 7th grade students

The aim of this research is to examine the effect of DNR-based teaching on the academic success of 7th Grade students in the mathematics course "Integers". The universe of the research consisted of 7th grade students studying in Elazig/Merkez in the 2020-2021 academic year. In the study, students were divided into two groups as control and experiment. The subject of integers was explained to the students in the control group using traditional methods and to the students in the experimental group using the DNR-based teaching method. Before starting the study, a pretest was applied to both groups. After the study, the posttest was applied to determine the success status of the students in the same way. As a result of the study, it was seen that there was no significant difference between the pretest and posttest mean scores in the control group of the students who were taught the subject of integers using traditional methods. This shows that the course taught in accordance with the current teaching did not provide a significant improvement in the success of the students. When the pretest and posttest success scores of the students in the experimental group were compared, it was seen that the posttest success scores were favorably significant. Considering this result, it can be said that the DNR-based teaching method provides a significant improvement in the success of the students. Moreover, as a result of the study, it was seen that there was no significant difference between the students in the control and experimental groups in terms of pretest success scores, however, the posttest achievement scores of the students in the experimental group in which the subject of integers was taught with the DNR-based approach was significantly higher than the control group in which the subject of integers was taught using traditional methods.
